Welcome to You're Darn Tootin'! |
|
The You're Darn Tootin' tent of the Sons of Desert was founded in Mobile, Alabama to share members' appreciation with the comedy genius of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The tent's meetings are held every other month at the Playhouse-in-the-Park in Mobile's Langan Park. This theatre is a terrific venue to hold our meetings as it is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and big screen projection systems. If you have never watched a Laurel and Hardy classic in a theater, come join us and enjoy the boys on the big screen while you relax in comfortable theater seating.
Our next meeting will be at 2:30 on Sunday, April 15. In the first half of our show, we'll look at more of the boys' appearances in other people's films. We start with one of their scenes (and one of only two known surviving scenes) from the 1930 Technicolor MGM musical "The Rogue Song." We'll follow that with the boys' scenes from MGM's all-star "Hollywood Party" (1934). Our first half will conclude with Stan and Ollie's scenes from the Hal Roach musical "Pick a Star" (1937). One of these scenes pairs them with no less that three of their screen heavies: James Finlayson (minus mustache!), Charlie Hall and Walter Long. The second half of our show will present the boys in their second feature-length comedy, "Pack Up Your Troubles" (1932).

Playhouse-In-The-Park located directly across from the Mobile Museum of Art in Mobile's Langan Park for a knee-slapping good time. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
